Radley Sanitarium, Thursday Evening

In the next few days after That Night, things had taken a turn for the even more creepy.
Yesterday in her class, Emily had received a gift from 'A,' a new necklace: a necklace made of human teeth, presumably from Alison's remains. The girls accidentally flushed it down the toilet. Hanna was glad. At least that was something that couldn't be traced back to them. Plus...it was psychotic and scary. She was glad not to have been there for that.
Of course, this set the girls off to paranoia land. Spencer begged Hanna to return to Radley to get some answers about the new 'A' from Mona. Hanna was slightly annoyed as she was at work at the time. Didn't Spencer understand those visits weren't easy for her? Or was this just an evidence gathering mission to her? Whatever, she agreed anyway. Spencer was going to visit Garrett in prison to try to gather information as well.
Hanna had tried getting through to Mona again last night, but she ended up frustrated. She even threw a chair across the room claiming that Mona owed her for making her life a nightmare. Thankfully, Wren was there to talk to her about it, telling her about his father's mental illness and the toll it took on his family. He explained to Hanna that she was feeling ambiguous loss. Mona was there, yet she wasn't. It was good to talk to someone who understood what she was dealing with.
Tonight's visit was no different when it came to Mona being catatonic. But Hanna decided to try a different approach, something Mona used to understand. She brought makeup...the good stuff.
"Okay, so the lighting in here sucks," Hanna said as she held a compact in front of Mona so she could see her slight makeover. There was only so much she could do here. "At least you're starting to look like someone I recognize."
Mona looked away. Hanna sighed, taking Mona's hand. "Look Mona, I didn't come here to play beauty shop. I came here because I know there is a person still in there. I know you've been hurt, but so have I. And I still am."
She stood up and began to pack up the makeup she had brought. "Trust me, you're not the first person to hurt me. You're certainly not the last."
"You're getting them again, aren't you?"
Hanna froze. Had Mona just spoken?
"The texts," Mona continued.
Of course, that's when a nurse had to announce that visiting hours were over. Such bad timing. She told the nurse she had to pack up to give herself a few more moments.
"Mona, what texts are you talking about?" No answer.
"Mona?" she pleaded.
The nurse was adamant now.
"We're not done with this," Hanna told Mona. "You hear me? I'm coming back, Mona."
That wasn't much, but it was progress. Plus, it proved Mona knew something was going on.
