Room 425, Tuesday

Hanna was so happy today. It was a Tuesday, yet she was still here in her dorm room in Fandom. No one at home needed her to be there on her day off from classes. No one needed her to go to creepy doll shops here.


It wasn't until she received an invitation in the mail that she began to feel paranoid again. At first, it was innocent. It was a fancy invitation from the Rosewood Junior Society to attend a masquerade ball this Saturday. Costumes required. She'd totally skip it if it wasn't for the small piece of paper that fell out of the invitation, a note written in red ink.

Be there when the clock strikes midnight.

So much for feeling calm for one day.

Her lack of calm turned into confusion later when she got a voicemail asking for advice about the crush party. She returned the call giving what she thought was excellent advice.

She meant well, at least.

Elphaba had gotten a strange message, and she sadly had known exactly what that meant. So instead of trying to call anyone today, she instead went straight to her friends' room and knocked on the door.

"Hanna, are you there?" she asked.

"Yeah, I'm here! Door's unlocked!" Hanna called, quickly hiding the invitation under her pillow. She didn't want Elphaba to worry.

Elphaba opened the door and stepped in. "The phones are being dumb again," she said, matter-of-factly. "Or however you're supposed to describe it when they aren't working correctly."

Hanna blinked. "They seem fine to me. I actually got a call today."

Elphaba made a puzzled face. "Well someone apparently thinks my clothes are preventing them from bringing dates to their room, then. It may have just been a wrong number."

Well, now Hanna was offended on Elphaba's behalf. "Why the hell would someone say something like that? Sounds like someone who can't get dates all on their own."

Oh how wrong Hanna likely was.

"Or they have a very messy roommate," Elphaba said with a shrug. "I've never had to worry about that, really. So I can't really say what they were thinking."

"Weird," Hanna said. "But anyway, what's up? Besides getting supremely whacked out phone calls."

"Not much, sadly," Elphaba said with a bit of a sigh. "I've been staying in my room, mainly. I keep telling myself to get out and about but... I'm not entirely sure why, but I've somehow allowed myself to become a hermit."

"Well, we'll have to do something about that," Hanna grinned. "You should go to the musical this week. Would be nice to have a friend out there cheering me on. And it's a night out..."
