Room 425, Monday

Hanna returned to Fandom late last night. It took her almost the whole day to say goodbye to Caleb and then her friends. Their group hug alone could have lasted forever. It was necessary after everything they had been through together. Leaving her mom was the worst part, because Hanna knew she wouldn't be back to Rosewood for awhile. Her mom knew it, and even promised to visit so Hanna wouldn't have to go back.

Being in Fandom couldn't make her forget, though. This time, when she remembered some of the things 'A' had done, she saw the face to go with it all.

She shuddered, and then turned the music on her laptop on. The less quiet it was, the better.

Hanna was grateful for hugs right now. "I get that. I do. But maybe if I hadn't ignored her...and just stood by while Ali was mean to her..."

"After Alison died, Mona and I got close again," Hanna explained. "We made ourselves over and became queen bees. Our best Alison impersonations...Then I got close to my old friends again when we started getting to A messages."

Hanna just shook her head. "She wanted to drive us further apart, but it backfired. And that just made her more mad."

"She had problems, then," Elphaba said, unable to not speak her mind. "She... there's no use in thinking about what might have been. At least now she can't hold any more power over you."

She was struggling with finding the right words, especially when she really wanted to run off to Hanna's world and give Mona a good scare.

"Yeah, she does. Something must have snapped..." Hanna, despite everything Mona put her through, still felt sad about that. She still hoped Mona could be helped in some way. "She can't hurt us from where she is now."

"Good," Elphaba said. "And if she tries, she'll regret it." She reached to hold her friend's hand reassuringly. "But that she was a friend once makes it all the worse, doesn't it?"

Hanna nodded. "I don't think it'd be so hard if it was someone I thought was my enemy, you know?"

"It wouldn't," Elphaba said. "I wish there was something, anything more I could do. But I will promise you I will never, ever do anything even remotely the same to you."

Hanna smiled at that. "I know. I'm not worried about that."

She held Elphaba's hand. "Just you being here, listening? You're already doing more than enough for me."

"Well it's the least I can do," Elphaba said. "You're fast becoming my best friend. Just don't tell Karla, she might get jealous." She gave her friend a little smile.

"Your secret is safe with me," Hanna said, grinning. "I feel the same about you, by the way. You're one of my best friends."

"After all your other friends have been through with you, it's practically an honor to even come near them," Elphaba said, honestly.

She squeezed Hanna's hand a bit. "We should do something fun this coming weekend."

"Maybe someday, you can meet them." Her Rosewood friends and Elphaba were equally important to her.

"Are you going to prom?" Hanna asked.

"Oh, right, that's this weekend, isn't it?" Elphaba said. "I'd almost forgotten. I probably should go, being a senior. It's my last chance for a dance at this school."

"Well then you're definitely going," Hanna said. "I insist. We could go together if we can't find dates."

Elphaba was about to remark that it seemed like they'd end up going together at that rate, but just smiled and nodded. "We'll do that," she said. "Though even if you find a date you'll have to save a dance for me."
