Rosewood, Pennsylvania - Sunday

Last night had been miserable. Emily was not doing well, not that anyone could blame her. All the girls could do for now was be there for her. Hanna made the decision, for that reason, to stay in Rosewood for a few more days.
Emily losing Maya like that was devastating. It got Hanna thinking about Caleb and how she'd feel if anything happened to him. Though they weren't really together right now, she knew she'd be equally devastated. It was that thought in mind that led her to visit Caleb this afternoon.
Right now, they were sitting outside on the front steps of the house he was staying at. It happened to Lucas' house, which made Hanna a little uneasy considering his affiliation with the Black Swan at the masquerade a few months ago. She kept that to herself, though. She was here for Caleb.
"How's Emily?" he asked. By now, the whole town knew about Maya.
"A mess," Hanna said quietly. "Understandably."
Caleb nodded. "Do they know what happened?"
"Not yet," Hanna replied. "Guess they'll know soon if it was accidental or..."
Hanna was sure it was something much more sinister. It couldn't be a coincidence that she was found almost the same way Alison had been. Hanna and the others even wondered if Garrett was involved somehow. He was the suspect in Alison's murder after all.
Caleb reached for Hanna's hand. "Are you okay?"
She shrugged. "Yeah. I just wish there was more I could do for her, you know? She's so..."
That's when the tears started. She wasn't really okay. Who could be right now?
"I hate seeing her like that."
"I know," Caleb said gently, pulling Hanna closer. She rested her head on his shoulder.
"If anything happened to you..." Hanna trailed off.
"I'm fine, Hanna," Caleb assured her. "You don't have to worry about me."
"Try to stop me," she said, smiling slightly.
Caleb smiled, too. "Guess that's an impossibility."
This was nice, but Hanna felt a little guilty, too. Emily couldn't do things like this with Maya anymore.
Just as life was settling down a little, something terrible happened. That seemed to be a theme in Rosewood lately.
[not a real canon update as this didn't actually happen on screen; and I won't be doing S3 catch ups until the fall when the show goes on hiatus]
