While Emily learned about her drugged flask last night, Spencer had found a note written by Garrett clearly meant for someone, possibly 'A.' Today, she made Hanna use her random forging skills to write a new note, this one telling his contact to meet at the church tonight. Maybe this was the way they could finally catch their new tormentor. Nothing could go wrong with this plan, right?
So wrong.
Hanna volunteered obviously since there was a church social for all the people who helped with the clothing drive. She would risk being bored out of her mind and watching her mom flirt with Ted. Hanna thought he was a total goober. Though she changed her mind a bit when she realized her mom really did like him. She even had to give her a pep talk after Ashley discovered he was actually one of the new deacons. Hanna told her mother she was totally worthy of him, despite her past indiscretions.
Of course, that's when Detective Wilden had to show up. Hanna watched him make her mother feel uncomfortable. She so hated him for what he had done to her in the past. This seemed like a good time to sneak off into the actual church, where the note had told 'A' to meet. It was spooky and dark, and when she heard the footsteps approaching, she hid amongst the pews. She could see the shoes of the contact approaching...
"Why am I not surprised to see you here?"
Detective Wilden.
"I got lost," she tried lamely.
Wilden presented her with the note. "I assume this was you?"
Hanna stared at her own forged note. "I don't know what that is."
"Why are you working with Garrett?"
"I'm not," Hanna stammered. "I didn't write that note."
She was totally lying and she knew he knew it. She still wasn't going to take credit for the note. No way.
"An anonymous tip came in tonight, you know. An anklet that belonged to your friend Alison was brought in. Looks like you friend Garrett is no longer charged with her murder. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, right?"
"No," Hanna replied, and that was the truth. "What does that have to do with me?"
"It has DNA on it that might belong to someone else." Wilden looked pointedly at her. "Might even be yours."
"What? It's not," Hanna tried to protest. "So you still think I had something to do with it?"
He glared at her. "I know it."
Well, that wasn't good. Now Hanna was starting to worry. Was 'A' trying to set her up? Again?
