Hanna was doing a bit of packing for the upcoming trip. She was most excited to be away from 'A' related things for a whole week on a whole other continent.
Of course, there had to be one last 'A' issue. She found out when Spencer called with new information.
"I'm pretty sure I know who 'A' is," Spencer said, a little too gravely than Hanna would have liked.
She instinctively reached to pet her kitten who finally had a name: Lou (short for Louboutin). It was like she was preparing for bad news already.
"We think it might be Paige," Spencer sighed. "Me and Aria. We haven't been able to tell Emily, yet."
Hanna blinked. "Why do you think that?"
"Because she has a past with Ali," Spencer explained. "CeCe told me."
CeCe. A friend/mentor type to Alison. Hanna hadn't met her, yet.
"So what?" Hanna replied. "A lot of people do. We do."
"Yeah, well, not everyone has a violent past with her."
Hanna continued to pet Lou. "Oh."
Spencer explained that Paige and Ali got into fights during field hockey practice. That still wasn't enough proof for Hanna.
"Also, I was attacked by a snake at CeCe's boutique." That was Spencer's next bombshell.
Hanna was horrified. "WHAT?! Are you okay?!"
"Yeah, CeCe saved me, but..." Spencer trailed off for a moment as if she was flashing back to that moment. "Earlier in the day, Paige mentioned snakes. I mean, that can't be coincidental."
Hanna wasn't so sure, though. "Look, don't do anything crazy like accuse her, okay? Not without better proof. I'll be on vacation this week, but call me if you find anything and I'll be on the next flight home."
Or portal, but she kept that to herself.
Spencer sighed. She was probably annoyed that she couldn't just accuse Paige. "Fine, but I know I'm right."
"Emily has been through so much," Hanna said. "We need proof before shattering her life again."
The thought of Paige really being 'A' made Hanna feel ill. Emily didn't need this.
"You're right," Spencer said reluctantly. "Check you out being the voice of reason."
Hanna beamed. "I try."
It was strange, though. Hanna wasn't usually the smarter one in these situations.
"I'll let you go now," Spencer said. "I just wanted to keep you in the loop."
"Thanks," Hanna said appreciatively. "I'll bring you back a present."
She hung up a few moments later and looked at Lou. "Try not to anger any of your kitty friends, especially if any of their names begin with A."
It was sage advice.
