Hanna spent most of her weekend in her room. She wasn't allowed to see anyone. Caleb tried to visit, but her parents made him leave. They needed to deal with this situation as a family. Hanna wasn't sure her dad had a right to make all these decisions, but her mother was going along with it.

She overheard the two of them arguing often over this ordeal. She learned, during one of their yelling matches, that her mom was being blackmailed for the time she ran over Wilden. He was going to leave town and wanted money to do so. She asked her dad for it, but when he couldn't deliver, she stole his gun. She was only going to threaten him with it to get him to leave her and Hanna alone. According to her, he somehow got it away from her and she ran. It was the last time she had seen the gun. She didn't know someone had left it in her closet for Hanna to find. She claimed she was being set up. Hanna believed her. She knew who was setting her up, too.

She couldn't tell them about 'A', though. The creature made it clear to her that both of her parents would go to jail if she did say anything. 'A' had so much on all of them.

Eventually, her parents relented and let Emily visit. Hanna was grateful for an Emily hug of comfort. She was not so grateful when her friend asked for the police dashboard footage from the night her mom ran him over since it also had Shana and Jenna helping him afterward. Emily figured that gave the police more suspects to look into. Hanna reluctantly let her have it.

When she left, Hanna was alone for a moment with her dad. Her mom had gone outside for air or something.

"Why didn't you come to me for help, Hanna?" Tom asked. He was sitting on the staircase, sipping something alcoholic. He was very clearly stressed.

"Honestly, Dad," Hanna said quietly. "Based on what Caleb said when he talked to you before, I didn't think you wanted that."

Tom remained silent, not disputing what she said. Hanna was too sad to be angry. They both sat quietly for a few moments. There wasn't anything else to be said, really.

Later that evening, Hanna overheard her parents again. This time, they were more civil.

"Ash, just tell them you were defending yourself. I'd believe it," Tom said quietly.

"You believe what you want," Ashley replied. "I know I didn't kill him."

That's when the doorbell rang. It was Lt. Tanner and a few uniformed police officers. They were there for her mother. Hanna's worse fear was realized.

"No, what are you doing?" Hanna cried out as Tanner recited Miranda rights. "She didn't do it! You have to believe me! Mom?! Come on, tell her that you didn't do it!"

Tanner patiently, and not unkindly, explained, "That gun was used to kill Detective Wilden, and your mother's finger prints are on the bullets."

Ashley turned toward Tom right before being lead out of the house in handcuffs. "I need you to look after Hanna. Whatever she needs, whatever happens to me, please."

"Mom," Hanna pleaded tearfully. Utterly defeated.

"I love you," Ashley said emotionally to Hanna before being taken away.

Hanna couldn't contain her tears. She didn't even move away when her dad placed a hand on her shoulder. She was too broken up at the moment to do much of anything.

She went to her room to sob uncontrollably. Lou the kitty provided snuggles, the only comfort she wanted right now.
