Not long after, Hanna (and the others including Mona) had received a video text message. It was the five of them standing by the trunk of Wilden's police car. The angle made it impossible to see what they were looking at in the trunk. It basically made it look like they were at least tampering with evidence. At worst, it made it seem like they were involved in his murder.
A new officer, Detective Holbrook with the state police, was now looking into the murders of both Garrett and Wilden. Two cops from the same small town being murdered months apart was a very big deal. According to Emily, this new cop seems a lot more competent than any of the Rosewood PD. Hanna would need to see for herself. He was going to be in touch, so it probably wouldn't be long before she was brought in for questioning like the others.
Right now, she was more worried about her mother's involvement. Ashley had lied right to her face last night when Hanna questioned her about her missing phone. Oh, and then there were the muddy Manolos she found in the trash. A new key piece of evidence indicated two sets of foot prints were near the spot Wilden was killed, one of them being his, the others being high heels.
Ashley warned Hanna to mind her own business. This was very much her business, though. 'A' was involved, which meant Hanna and her friends were. She couldn't tell her mother that, of course.
"Wilden had a lot of enemies," Ashley had told her earlier. "One of them did us a favor."
Hanna just hoped it wasn't her own mother who did that particular favor.
All she could do now was sit in her room and stare at the ceiling. Maybe the answers would somehow magically appear.
