Hanna returned to Radley in the hopes that things might be different this time. She really wanted this visit to go more smoothly than the last one did. She even wore a new outfit. Not because she wanted to impress anyone. It was more from a place of anxiousness, of wanting things to be perfect.

She was nervous as she handed a nurse her fake I.D. She didn't want to use her real name. She didn't exactly want anyone to know about this. Her friends and her mother would certainly never allow this. She was on her own here.

After handing over her jewelry and other potentially sharp objects, she approached Mona, momentarily feeling nauseous. She was still afraid of Mona.

Once again, she didn't acknowledge Hanna's presence at all. She was just staring.

"Hey Mona," she greeted, her voice a bit shaky. "How've you been?"

Really? Hanna thought to herself. What a dumb question.

Mona didn't reply. She kept staring blankly. It was creepy more than anything.

"So, um, would you believe I got a job?" she continued, forgetting she asked that last question. "At this really cool boutique. You'd like it. It's much better than the lame ones in Rosewood."

Hanna sighed. Having mundane conversations about shopping with her former stalker seemed so trivial right now. She was trying to reach a part of Mona she understood, the one who dressed fashionably, accessorized expensively, kept up with the latest makeup trends, and carried around the newest designer bag. She was used to the girl who made her laugh and had her back for so long. Only she stabbed her in that same back and ran her over with a car.

That was the jolt she needed to snap back to reality. Mona was now a shell of her former self: drab clothing, no jewelry, no makeup, no volume in her hair. Hanna wondered if that's what she looked like in detention. Was she that insane as well?

This was too much right now. Hanna didn't want to have anything in common with this creature who tortured her.

"I shouldn't have done this," she said, gathering her belongings and leaving the room as fast as possible.

She nearly ran into someone on her way out.

"Hanna?"

She glanced up to see the cute British doctor who was once engaged to Spencer's sister. Wren.

"Um, who?" she asked, giving him a look conveying he shouldn't be using her name out loud.

"Oh, I thought you were someone else," Wren replied, giving her a knowing glance. "Here to visit Mona Vanderwaal?"

Hanna nodded. "Why are you here? Aren't you a doctor for normal people?"

"Sometimes I volunteer here," Wren told her. "I used to have experience with a place like this."

Hanna raised an eyebrow. "Like as a patient?"

"No, but a relative was," he explained. "So, will we be seeing you again?"

"I don't know," Hanna replied honestly. "Look, I gotta go. I'll tell Spencer you said hi."

She rushed out of there as if she'd never been there in the first place.

What was she thinking with these visits? They didn't seem to help her or Mona.
