Rosewood, Pennsylvania - Sunday
Hanna had a lot more on her mind than she ever wanted. There was the situation with her mom which was difficult enough. Today, she met with Emily to find out what was so urgent last night.
Hanna almost couldn't believe the news. But this was Rosewood. Anything was possible. Including Spencer's loving ex-boyfriend being a member of the A Team. That's why Spencer had been so aloof lately. She was dealing with the ultimate betrayal.
Hanna understood that kind of betrayal. She had been best friends with Mona for so long, unaware she was behind most of her torment. Emily had a more difficult time accepting this, though. She didn't want to believe Toby could do this. The two of them were close friends like Hanna and Mona had been.
Hanna was with her at Toby's loft, trying to help her find clues leading to his innocence. Mostly, she was watching tv to find out of Wilden's disappearance was going to be mentioned. Emily was getting fed up with her, snatching the remote from her hands. "I've been doing most of the work."
"Look, I think you shouldn't be looking for Toby at all," Hanna finally told her. "From what Spencer says, he sounds dangerous now."
"I believe her, but...I just need to hear it from him," Emily said sadly.
Hanna went on to explain about how "A" is very good at fooling everyone, just as Mona had. Now, it seems to be Toby's time to play everyone for a fool. She really felt for Spencer right now.
"If you really want to find him, you should talk to his parents," Hanna suggested. "It's pretty obvious he isn't here and probably hasn't been for awhile."
Emily nodded, deciding it was time to leave this place. While Emily went to visit the Cavanaugh home, Hanna went home to her own house. She hated leaving her mom even for just a few hours. Her mother wasn't there, though. Hanna was worried enough to leave voicemails.
But what really worried her was the strange sounds coming from her garage. It probably wasn't smart for her to go searching (she watched horror movies before), but she did anyway. What she found in the garage shocked her, leaving her dismayed.
It was Wilden's police cruiser with the lights on. What the hell? This had "A" written all over it. Inside was a police video recorder on a loop. Over and over, she heard Wilden and her mom arguing before she got back in the car and hit him with it. Of course, the video stopped before she could see what happened afterward. Before she could see how exactly Wilden was moved from the site.
The police car being right in her house could not be a good thing. It didn't exactly make them look innocent. If anything, it made it look like they were hiding evidence. Hanna was scared for her mom now more than ever.
So she called the one friend she knew wasn't too busy right now.
"This is a bad idea," Aria warned as Hanna hid the cruiser in a rundown barn a few towns over. She drove it here while Aria drove behind her. Hey, she needed a ride back.
"I know," Hanna sighed. "But it's the only way right now."
"This could come back to bite us," Aria added.
"Yep," Hanna said quietly. At this point, she was almost done with everything. She was starting to check out. If this is what "A" was trying to achieve, it was working.
If it was out of her sight, it disappeared. Out of mind.
Hiding the car was worth it if only because she saw the way it eased her mother's mind later. Ashley had sworn she saw Wilden today, and when she went back to see his car gone, she figured he was fine and drove it away himself.
"So maybe he really is okay," Ashley said, the relief on her face quite noticeable.
How could Hanna take that away from her?
[I changed this up quite a bit. In the episode, Hanna deciding ditching it in a pond was an awesome idea, because that isn't going to come back to cause trouble for you, Hanna! The stupid it burns! Hiding it in a barn isn't much smarter, but gah! Thought about skipping this whole plot, but I think it will have a major impact on the "A" mystery. So I had to keep it in somehow.]
