Rosewood, Pennsylvania - Saturday Afternoon
A lot happened in the week since Hanna had last been in Rosewood.
For one, Spencer had been released from Radley. Apparently, she claimed to be feeling better. That was quite a change from last week when she told the girls she wanted to stay. Hanna wondered if she was 100 percent better.
With good reason.
Also in that time, Aria had a scary situation to deal with concerning 'A.' Her boyfriend Ezra had a son from a previous relationship, something Aria was having a hard time dealing with. It didn't help when he was kidnapped last week by 'A.' He was safe, but it was enough to scare Aria. It was enough to make her question whether she wanted to continue the relationship with Ezra. She didn't want his kid being caught in the middle of 'A' situations. There was also the fact that she was seventeen and not exactly capable of being a teenage stepmom. That's how Hanna saw it, anywayor maybe it was her player talking.
Hanna got an S.O.S. message from her last night because she learned something frightening. When asked who had taken him, Malcolm (Ezra's kid), told Aria it was her friend Alison. Obviously it was someone claiming that name. It couldn't have really been Alison, right? It wasn't. Instead, it was Spencer. That's who he said took him when he saw her picture on Aria's phone.
Spencer on the A-Team? No way she could be doing this for malicious reasons? Or sane reasons...
The girls hatched a plan last night, making sure 'A' couldn't hear them. The plan was to find out it Spencer was on their side without putting her in danger with 'A.' She had to be pretending to join to gather some intel or something, right? It had to be.
And that's why Hanna was currently wandering Rosewood High during a sporting event wearing a Red Coat. The idea was to lure Spencer into following her, thinking she was seeking Red Coat's identity.
It was working. Hanna dodged through the cafeteria and the hallways until she wandered into the Girl's Bathroom. She waited for Spencer to reach her.
"What is this?" Spencer asked when she was facing Hanna in a red coat.
"You followed me here," Hanna replied, relieved. "That means you're still trying to find out who she is."
Emily and Aria waltzed out from their hiding places behind the stalls. "That means you're still on our side."
Spencer was relieved as well. "I knew you'd think of something. I sent that picture for Malcolm to see."
Spencer let them know she had hoped they'd believe she was on their side. "Mona said if I joined her, my reward would be Toby. Alive. That I'd get to see him."
Emily was cautious when she asked, "Did you see him?"
Spencer broke into a huge grin. "Yes. He's alive. He's been pretending to work with the A-Team like I'm doing. He did it to help us...to protect me."
Emily and Aria were ecstatic for Spencer. Hanna was trying to be. Forgive her if she didn't quite trust Toby, yet. Last week, he apparently helped torture Spencer enough for her to have a breakdown. Now everything was all forgiven?
"I'm supposed to deliver you to an inn next Friday. I was going to send invites to a party to announce my stint in Radley is over," Spencer explained. "If I do send them, we can trap Mona and Red Coat."
"They won't even see this coming," Emily said, a somewhat mischievous glint in her eyes.
"Finally, we'll be a step ahead of them," Hanna added, liking this plan.
"I almost wish we didn't have to wait until Friday," said Aria.
"We need to plan this well. We'll need a few days," Spencer explained. "It'll be worth it."
Hanna hoped this worked. She was ready to end this whole ordeal.
[from 3x24 "A Dangerous Game"; I'm splitting the finale into two parts, so it will conclude next week; didn't have the energy for all of it in one weekend]
